About the project/overview
The planned multimillion enhancement of Brooklyn Mall is set to compliment the dynamic node in which it is situated. The integration of the adjacent lifestyle centre, Design Square, into Brooklyn Mall will create an unparalleled shopping destination within the Capital City's most prestigious neighborhoods. An area of approximately 20 550m² will be redeveloped, of which approximately 9 700m² is new GLA. The total GLA for the new Brooklyn Mall will be approximately 81 850m².
Although the major construction will occur 'out of sight' there are pockets of space throughout the mall that have been made vacant in order to accommodate tenant movements and temporary trading for the duration of the re-development – you will notice that a number of stores have been papered up or closed off for this purpose.
The ambition of this project is not only to add additional retail space to the mall but also to make better use of the existing layout. A great deal of emphasis is also being placed on making the mall easier to navigate between levels and improving the flow.

The project team has started working on the premises which was previously occupied by Pieter Oosthuizen Interiors. Once this stage of the project is complete there will be a passageway from Cape Union Mart through to The Flower Shop. This portion of the project also includes the installation of a new elevator which will run between all three levels of the mall. Unfortunately in order to accommodate this part of the construction the elevator which is located next to The Barber @ Brooklyn/ Flower Shop/open parking will no longer go up to the open parking but will only travel between level 1 and 2.
Another area in which construction has begun is the space which was previously occupied by the Mini Golf. This part of the redevelopment will possibly be the most invasive as the demolition and construction will occur near to the main parking entrance and exit. Utmost attention has been given in order to create as little inconvenience as possible and processes have been set in place to manage this. The walkway from Veale street to the mall will also temporarily be closed during this phase of the redevelopment for the safety of pedestrians'.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused to shoppers during any stage of the redevelopment and assure you that we are doing our best to minimise any unpleasantness. Please bare with us, we assure you that the result will be worthwhile.
